Vitalii Kindrakevych

Coding since 1992.

I started with Z80 assembler on the ZX Spectrum, then x86 assembler on the IBM PC and Linux servers, and the web from the 2000s. Today I build platforms on millions of records: maps, search, online stores and AI.

Thirty-four years ago I wrote code where every byte mattered. The habit stayed: keep it simple, fast, and built to run for years.

Depths of code

Each layer is something I did — and still use in my work today.

  1. 2024

    AI every day

Claude Code as an engineering partner; RAG, agents and speech analytics in products people actually use.

› claude "add a stocking-records import with tests"
  2. 2020s

    Big data & maps

TripsQuick and Rybalka Club: government data, our own tile server, depth maps and Elasticsearch — 78,208 waters in one database.

    › tippecanoe -o depths.pmtiles isobaths.geojson
  3. 2014

    My own agency

Founded Kindrakevich Digital Agency: 40+ projects in tourism, e-commerce, SaaS, the public sector and B2B. Drupal, Symfony and open-source distributions on Drupal.org.

    › drush site:install constructor
  4. 2010

    Karpaty.Rocks

Launched a guide to the Carpathians — today the largest one: 9,200+ pages and 2,420 GPS routes.

    › SELECT name FROM peaks WHERE height > 2000;
  5. 2000s

    The web

PHP, MySQL and the first client websites. Since 2008, building and maintaining web products has been my main work.

    › <?php echo $row['title']; ?>
  6. 1990s

    Linux servers

Administering Linux servers: networks, mail, web servers and security. That is where my respect for production comes from.

    › # tail -f /var/log/messages
  7. 1990s

    IBM PC · x86

x86 assembler under DOS — how the processor, memory and video really work.

    › mov ax, 13h ; int 10h ; VGA 320×200
  8. 1992

    ZX Spectrum · Z80

My first programs, in Z80 assembler. A few dozen kilobytes of memory teach you to count every byte and every cycle.

    › ld a,2 : loop: out (254),a : xor 7 : djnz loop

How I work

What clients and teams can count on.

01

I think like a product owner

I build how the product makes money into the architecture from day one.

02

From idea to production

Often the only engineer on a project — architecture, backend, frontend and deployment.

03

Real numbers only

Facts and real data — in products and on this site.

04

Simple things that last

An assembler habit: less code, fewer failures, systems that run for years.

What I work with

The tools change; the low-level roots stay useful.
